Why can’t a cow swing on a swing or splash through a pool of water in her boots? All of Mamma Moo’s schemes leave Crow flapping in the air and he shouts DON’T. Right up until Crow himself gets a great idea!
Jujja’s comments about the book
These are books for the youngest children. The books can take some rough treatment and put up with being chewed on. Toddler books used to be just pictures of some object. Now we want them to have some substance, even if it needs to be simple. As small children make their way in the world, it can sometimes be hard work for both them and their parents. You don’t want them to fall down, hurt themselves, get their clothes dirty, eat unhealthy things… to not be so active ALL the time. But then it’s important that we make sure that the first words that a child hears are not restrictive: DON’T, BE CAREFUL, (sigh) LATER! Crow is sometimes like a worried parent. At least when he’s not amused, but then again he often is – thank goodness.
